White Rock to YVR by taxi: the flat rate and when to book
A Yellow Express taxi from White Rock or South Surrey to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is a flat rate of $85 per trip, not per person, GST included. Traffic on the tunnel or the bridge does not change it.

Who gets the White Rock flat rate?
The flat rate covers rides to YVR that start in White Rock or South Surrey. Both areas are on the same line of our rate card.
It runs in one direction. Rides from YVR are at YVR’s standard rates, so your trip to the airport and your trip home are priced differently. Call dispatch at 604-581-1111 for the fare home.

How early should you be at YVR?
Be at YVR at least two hours before a domestic flight and at least three hours before a U.S. or international flight. That is YVR’s own guidance: the airport says it “strongly encourages” travellers to arrive early, “ideally at least two hours ahead of domestic flights and at least three hours for U.S. and international flights.”
It is easy to read two hours as the time to leave home. It is the time to be at the airport.
What time should your taxi pick you up?
Your pickup time is your flight time, minus YVR’s arrival guidance, minus the drive, minus a margin for traffic.
Trip planners list the drive at about 36 minutes. Treat that as a clear-road figure, because rush hour and a long-weekend morning are different trips.
Here is the arithmetic, with a 30-minute margin as an example:

How much margin you need depends on the hour and the day you travel, so ask dispatch when you book. Give them the flight time and they can work it back with you. We aim to arrive at the time agreed, but traffic, weather and demand affect pickup times, so leave room.
If your pickup lands before 7:00 am, book the evening before. Advance bookings carry no extra charge, and dispatch is open 24 hours.
Tunnel or bridge?
Either can be quicker. It changes with traffic and the time of day, and there are two usual ways across the Fraser: Highway 99 through the George Massey Tunnel, or Highway 91 over the Alex Fraser Bridge. Dispatch can tell you which is moving when you book.

What to have ready
Have these ready:
- Your pickup address in White Rock or South Surrey.
- Your flight time, and whether the flight is domestic, U.S. or international.
- How many people are travelling, and how many bags.
Cars carry up to four or five passengers depending on the vehicle, and vans carry six and are booked on request. If you are bringing skis, bikes or more than four large cases, say so when you book, so dispatch can match a vehicle. Tell dispatch about accessibility needs at the same time.
